animal rights activists need to learn that cows moo for other reasons than “missing their babies”

you can’t just go on a farm, hear a cow bellowing, and assume it’s for her calf. that’s stupid.

When I lived right next to some cows they got a new one and she spent about two days mooing because she was in a new place and then she was fine.

My friend lived on a farm where the cows would all line up against the one fence to moo at the house every morning. Why? They liked the rottweiler that lived there. The cows would moo like crazy, the dog would go trotting out, they’d all sniff at each other, then head out into the pasture for their day. They’d moo for their morning dog fix. 😂

whenever i would go visit my grandmothers house the cows would line up and moo because there was a weird car in the driveway. then when they saw it was just the grandkids they would stop and go back to their buisness

They have many different moos for many different situations tbh

My great-grandfather (on my mother’s side) owned a farm with lots of cows,  they were all oddly fascinated by this one chicken that was a little fluffier and chubbier than the others and had a funny sounding clucking noise. The cows would gather next to the fence and moo very loudly at it when it was nearby. She is still not sure why they had such an affinity for that one chicken, but it was apparently really funny and endearing.

I would also be very excited if I saw a fluffy fat chicken

My horse barn has a cow that will moo VERY VERY VERY LOUDLY when it’s feeding time and your not moving fast enough for his liking.

My uncle has a dairy farm and one of his cows in particular screeches out this high pitched moo when it’s feeding time like “YOU LAZY MOTHERFUCKERS BETTER FEED ME RIGHT NOW MAMA IS HANGRY” lol

The plan for the 17th, when the adult content ban comes in, is to protest.

To do that, we are making as much noise either side of the 17th as possible, and using the site as normal.

On the 17th, dead silence.

People are saying log off but what they really mean is don’t open the site or the app.

But, on the 17th make as much noise as possible on every other platform. Tweet about it and post on facebook and instagram and everywhere else.

What this does is causes a massive dip in ad revenue for one single day. That does not make staff think ‘oh everyone’s gone let’s shut down.’ What it actually makes them think is ‘oh shit people aren’t happy and if people don’t keep using our site we’re out of money and out of jobs.’

A boycott reminds a company that the users (consumers) have the power to make their site (business) worthless with one single coordinated decision.

If you want to join in, here’s what to do:

Do:

• Close all open instances of the app and site on all your devices before the 17th
• Make posts before and after the 17th on tumblr and other platforms, talking about why this ban is bad
• Make posts on other sites during the 17th. Flood the official tumblr staff twitter and facebook with your anger and your opinion
• Come back on the 18th and check in

Don’t:

• Delete the app from your phone (this doesn’t affect their revenue and since it’s off the store at the moment it’ll be hard to get back)
• Delete your account. I mean you can if you want to, but if you keep your account and don’t use it you’re saying to staff that there’s still time to save it. If you delete it’s hard work to come back.
• Open the app or website (including specific blogs)
• Make any posts (turn down/off your queue and make sure nothing is scheduled)
• Go quiet elsewhere. Make it clear that this is just about tumblr, not a mass move away from all social media.

Remember: the execs don’t care about anything but money. Shutting down the site means there’s $0 further income from it. That’s their last possible course of action. If we make it clear we’re not happy, they’ll have to do something or we can do more and more until it becomes too expensive.

Protests take commitment. They’re a defiant action against a business that is doing something wrong. They will try to scare you into not participating, because they’re scared. We hold all the power here, sometimes the execs just need to be reminded of that.

Thank you. I didn’t even see a notification - I just came across it while I was scrolling through my blog to see if anything was flagged.

I’m honestly pretty upset about this. It’s also wild considering the history of the AIDS epidemic and how the US government censored PSAs about the epidemic to not mention gay men because it might be seen as endorsing “deviant” behavior. I’m not saying that’s why this was flagged, I’m just saying there’s relevant history here.

Oh, this is enraging.

I’ve had to block and report FOUR porn bots in the past two days. I have NEVER had to do that in such quantity before!!

LGBT content that is non-explicit is getting flagged and banned, even if it’s educational or informative and yet the damn porn bots are running rampant.
